Panglossian

Definition:
(pejorative) Naively or unreasonably optimistic.

Panglossian in a sentence:
Inmate 1: "Drop those throat lozenges and jump aboard my cough-powered wobble-copter; we'll be in Stockholm in time for tea. A Nobel Prize awaits!"
Inmate 2: "Settle down Terrence you panglossian fool, we're not going anywhere for another 5-10 years: your contraption's a dead moth squashed into a bar of soap."

Definition:
Make (something bad or unsatisfactory) better.

Toroidal

Definition:
Of or relating to or shaped like a toroid; doughnut shaped.

Toroidal in a sentence:
Paul was pretty sure the Porsche was not supposed to be toroidal. Handbrake parking by a tree at 30mph had not been a good idea.

After watching this nerdazoid give a svelt 3 minute TED talk (http://www.ted.com/talks/matt_cutts_try_something_new_for_30_days.html) I've decided to dust off the old blog and learn a new word every day for 30 days:

Day 1:

Bacchanlia

Definitions:
- Any drunken revelry.
- A riotous, boisterous, or drunken festivity; a revel.
- Wild revelry.
- A wild gathering involving excessive drinking and promiscuity.

Bacchanalia in a sentence:
Morrisons staff christmas party had descended into bacchanlia. Fish Counter Linda pumped her fist in the air as Tony from fruit and veg funneled chutney through a baguette into Wee Stinky Gary's nervously quivering gullet.
